Santorini, Greece

Beautiful Santorini, with its white-washed buildings and the blue sea is the Greece of holiday brochures and sunsets here are reputed to be the best in the world!
We took a tender boat from the ship to the port where we had a choice between a Gondola or a donkey ride. The line to get into the gondolas where double the length, so the donkeys won!

What an experience. The donkeys were tired, the sun was scorching hot and the track very long. We made it up the hill but decided that this was a matter for Green Peace. The donkeys are pushed beyond there abilities and the short Greek men in charge of this donkey track don’t have a care for health and safety. One of our fellow cruise members had to struggle to get out of the way of a troop of donkeys without riders that were chased downhill by these short Greek men after his donkey slipped and he fell of his donkey.
Needless to say, we took the gondolas to get down hill. Santorini is a lovely quaint little place, that needs time to explore.
